A Sweet Send-Off: Celebrating the end of our Hands-On History Season with homemade ice cream sundaes

To wrap up another successful season of interactive learning, the community is invited to our final Hands-On History Day featuring a build-your-own ice cream sundae celebration. Visitors can top off scoops of the museum’s homemade vanilla ice cream with a delicious variety of sweet toppings.

Hands-On History Days at the Wilson Museum offer multi-sensory learning experiences for visitors of all ages, bringing history and culture to life through sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. Throughout July and August, guests have enjoyed immersive demonstrations by local artists sharing their talents in traditional crafts, including pottery, woodworking, quill work, fiber arts, leather work, baking, and cooking. Visitors have had the opportunity to feel the heat of the blacksmith’s fire, shape wood with traditional tools, and explore 18th-century domestic life firsthand.

The museum extends its gratitude to everyone who participated this season and invites the community to join the fun again next summer. Hands-On History programming is offered every Wednesday and Sunday afternoon from 2 pm to 5 pm. Admission is always free, with donations greatly appreciated to support ongoing educational programs.
